A healthy diet whilst breastfeeding
Contrary to during pregnancy, no food is strictly forbidden for the mother during breastfeeding. However, some products should be consumed in moderation because milk quality is affected by the mother’s diet.
Coffee, tea, fizzy drinks, energy drinks…
all cause temporary hyper-stimulation.
Swordfish, marlin and siki
should be avoided because they can increase the mercury content of breast milk.
We advise you to vary the species you eat.
Alcohol
If baby feeds during the three hours following your consumption of alcohol, they will also experience a drunken sensation.
Cigarettes (nicotine in general)
makes baby anxious and stops them from sleeping (also as a passive smoker).
Certain drugs which present a contraindication
Ask your doctor for advice.
Sprouted seeds, raw eggs, very raw meat, mushrooms, unpasteurised and fermented products…
These products are all possible causes of food poisoning in the mother and therefore in baby in certain instances.
AND ON THE PLUS SIDE?
You can once again enjoy all of the food that was not recommended during your pregnancy! So feel free to tuck into some sushi, a terrine and other creamy desserts.
